Renault Pulse – A Perfect City Car

The Pulse is a compact hatchback, which is manufactured by the French automaker Renault S.A (Société Anonyme). The Pulse is a small car that comes with additional advantages like greater fuel economy and maneuverability among others. It has been deemed as a perfect city car due to these facts.

The Pulse, based on Nissan’s existing V-platform, bears many similarities to that of the features of Nissan Micra on the interiors. The fact that the car is manufactured at the Chennai-based Renault-Nissan manufacturing plant has helped to bring down the cost of production. The Renault Pulse comes in a price range of INR 4, 41,600 to 6, 92,600.

Despite looking small from the exterior, the interior of the Pulse is quite spacious. It is high and can carry the passengers with great comfort. The boot space of 250 liters is enough to carry all the luggage of the passengers. Apart from the spacious interiors, the Renault Pulse offers other comfort features like dual tone dashboard, HVAC controls, a powerful AC unit with four AC vents, an integrated CD player, leather-wrapped power steering, glove box, dual front vanity mirror, three assist grips and a 12-V power outlet among others.  All these features give the Pulse a luxury feel.

A light car, the Pulse is powered by a K9K petrol engine and a 1.2L DOHC engine. Both engines perform very well and offer a fuel efficiency of 18 km. Other features of the Pulse include a smart door lock and unlock feature, power windows, tilt-able power steering,  folding rear seats, green tinted glass, lock/unlock sensing automatic folding ORVMs, central locking, internal release for fuel lid, follow-me-home headlamps, engine start/stop button with illumination, an on-board trip computer, and front cabin lamp with reading light among others.

On the exterior, the Pulse looks peppy and stylish. The rounded feature of the car makes it attractive. The Pulse comes with a front bumper featuring large hexagonal air dam with chrome inserts. Alloy wheels as well as the short and high fenders add to the overall look of the car.

The safety features of the Pulse include the features like front and rear seat belts, anti-pinch safety function for driver side window, child proof rear door locks, engine immobilizer, head restraints for front and rear seats, high-mount stop lamp and speed sensing auto door locks, which comes as standard. However, certain other safety features like Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) along with the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) are, not available in thus car.

In short, the Pulse is a compact city car, which is easy to handle as well as high on fuel efficiency. Priced between 4.51 and 6.8 lakh rupees, it is one of the best cars around as it is a good vehicle to drive in the busy city traffic.

The other hot selling car in the Indian market is Toyota Etios Cross at price 5.7 lakh onwards.
