She must showed her power in China’s Guangzhou and ranked 12th worldwide, make determined efforts to deal with the problems in her maiden world’s champion ship and did well to reach the semifinals, the first in the women singles event for India. Just at the age of 18 she bagged a bronze in this tournament. She also defeated numerous opponents who were ranked higher than her. She also bought glory to the nation when others failed. She was the one who brings hope to the nation that has only recently started taking badminton seriously. It might be occurring to say that India is emerging as a badminton powerhouse. But after her performance, it must show how far Indian sportswomen have come, particularly in the discipline. After her win against the second seed, it was obvious that she is a very good badminton player. She has the capability to adapt the conditions much better than the other players. India is also set to become the home of a professional badminton league that should help to take the games forward universally and give more and more opportunities to our Indian players to look at sport as a carrier while aiming for the highest honors on the international areas.
